Where it all began

My love for blacksmithing was set alight at the age of 13, when, on a bright November day I went to my first Boy Scout merit badge fair and on the sign-up list there was the Metalworking merit badge (Blacksmithing Section). As fast as I could I signed up to take it and with a bit of luck, I was able to secure one of the 4 available spots in the afternoon. The session was supposed to go for about 2 hours, I stayed in that parking lot for the next 5. The counselor for the badge was delighted to stay longer and see my excitement and passion grow, he could never know what he had set in motion.

Immediately, I got to work fashioning my backyard forge. With a flower pot, an electric leaf blower, a section of railway track that we had just lying around and a crazy amount of energy, I was forging for the first time on my own.

Every day I practiced and experimented more and more, trying my best just to mimic what little information I could find, leading me to try and find a teacher. I was fortunate to find the legendary “Rivet Man” Steve Howell who graciously let me into his shop and let me learn on his forge, anvils, and tongs which to me was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

As I continued through school my desire to create increased... I was in woodshop, photography, videography, and even auto shop but my desire to sit in a classroom became nonexistent. As I matured I knew that my path lay outside anything that a school could teach me. Graduated High School and have achieved the Rank of Eagle Scout, I am taking advantage of my ample amount of time to get my business off the ground.

I soon found out that business is not only necessary but EXTREMELY fun! and found that spending long days in the shop or in front of the computer screen is an amazing feeling when it's on my terms.

My goal is to share my journey with all of you on my YouTube channel. You see my mistakes, stupidity, joy, excitement, and love of creating and learning. It's all there. I hope you also see that the projects I make are attainable by anyone with a strong enough conviction to work seriously hard and dedicate yourself to the end goal. I started this as a 13-year-old kid in a parking lot, I've come a long way, I'm loving what I'm doing and want to share it with you!
